Never ever ever torqued a car component in my life apart from cylinder heads, never once had a problem

I've been tightening mine to 110Nm for years. None have ever worked loose. If you think it's not very tight, it's because they don't need to be.
Over-tightening wheelnuts is dangerous, in my opinion. It puts the alloy under compressive force it wasn't designed for. It's also hellish to try to get undone with juggernauts rushing past at 60mph only a few feet away. At night. In the rain. With frost on the ground. In strong wind. And it's cold. Just do them to 110Nm and quit worrying. They're not going to drop off. |
