Cheers guys (Y)
May give these a try shortly but just been reading about serious engine failures on the D5 with a belt shredding itself.. Car is just out of warranty! Doh! May just pay for this to be done.. |

For most driving this is a more than adequate setup. As Andy says, police spec pads have a good rep but dust like hell. The following link (courtesy of Engineer via T5D5.org) may be useful to understand brake fluid: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...fluid_1a.shtml Assuming you are referring to the cam belt, it should be changed at 96k miles iirc as part of the service. What milage are you up to?

i have a '51 D5 that has been perfect for over a year, it has a chip upto 215 bhp. Is that a remap for your 253 bhp or chip ? I hear the police, run stock D5's with 330mm brakes ard are top notch, I guess if they use them they will be delivering quailty, reliable performance like the D5 does really ?..... |

It might interest you guys to know the D5 XC70 has 305 disks as standard. As it's fundamentally a V70 with 4wd then I would assume the disks/calipers/pads will all just bolt on a S60/V70......
Where do you get the plod spec pads? My stealer denies all knowledge. |

330mm brakes - ORLY LOL. I doubt it as most of plod vehicles run standard wheels, 17" Orestes or Amaltheas and big brakes would need 18s to clear. My refurbed calipers came from an ex-plod V70 T5 and that was running normal 305mm discs. AFAIK even the Volvo bbk is 320mm. Quote:
Apparently they are good. You will need to cut off the wear leads and they dust like heck.

Late night reading!
I am shocked anyone still thinks about using EBC brakes The company sold rubbish stuff and caused havoc with warped discs etc they bought any pad and just had them sprayed. Good advertising and the "chavs" swallowed the hype I too might do a front upgrade, but not if it involves changing the backs |
