Default Replacement front wing

Does anyone know the procedure for replacing the front wing on a 2004 mk2 S40 and is this a difficult job? I have rust along the edge of the wheel arch and have been quoted £120 by a local body shop to carry out a repair using filler but they cannot guarantee how long this would last. I have seen replacement wings for sale between £55/£125 and would rather go for a permanent fix. Any help or advice greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

How bad is it? Filler is good and can last many years if it's applied properly.

They are bolted on with 10mm (?) bolts. All the attached plastics with their notorious clips. You'll want to remove and disconnect the repeater lamp and indicator. Beware of hidden bolts, behind the bumper so that'll have to come off too. Some of the bolts are in the door-shut, and one or two under the sill cover. Don't be suprised if they're rusted irremovably.

But how will you paint it?

Mark 2 or Phase 2? If it's a Mark 2 then you're asking in the wrong section of the board, this section is for the "classic" cars up to 2004, there's another section for cars from 2004 onwards.

I replaced one about 2 months ago, headlights, front bumper, inner arch and under tray all have to be removed.

Maybe the bracket behind had rusted away completely. I think these bits must've missed the spray gun because they all rust there, and horribly. Or perhaps you just squeezed past it. (Or "squoze" as my kids insist is actually a word, haha!)

No rusty bits, undo arch liner - remove wing to bumper bolt and all the rest and it just needs a "squoze" past the lip on the inner wing.

I agree with Druid's version - you don't actually need to remove the arch liner or bumper.

Was a quick job for me - I would just spray the bolts first with WD40 or some penetrating oil aand leave overnight as one rusted bolt can be a time consumer.

As for paint I looked for a second hand V40 wing of the same colour and similar vintage from one of the numerous on line salvage sites . That way no respray and the replacement wing was indistinguishable from the rest of the car.
