My D2 CC has more than adequate performance from its Ford/PSA engine. Economy is good at an average 55mpg or so. Not sure what th stigma is about with a PSA engine, Peugeot diesels have always been regarded as pretty good.

My previous 04 s60 d5 was a lovely engine. Plenty of torque, no excessive gear changing etc. My present V40 D2 may have sufficient bhp but has to be worked hard leading to a somewhat less relaxing drive.
Will the new D5 be a 5 cylinder again or just another Volvo confusion with names?
I find that my 1.6 D2 V40 2013 runs well and returns very good mpg. At 70 mph the revs are 2000 ish which is perfect for max torque. Most journeys are on the motorway with a single occupant, whilst on the 'A' roads a more relaxed driving style needs to be adopted to ensure continued good mpg.

I don't mind my V50 D2 2010/11. Seems quick enough. Slow to start off but that could be me still getting used to the diesel [drove petrol for 12 years].

Currently getting high 40's/mpg using dual/A and some B roads.

Nice and quiet for a diesel.
