Default Service Costs ?

Hi,

Just been getting a couple of quotes for my 2006 D5 geartronic for its second annual service and they are ranging from £370 (Newbury) to £435 (Salisbury).

What is a 'reasonable' cost ?? Is £370 good, or have any of you out there done better ?? Anybody got recommendations for dealers in the South ??

Thanks,
Patrick.

I would give RT Mechanics, a highly regarded independent, a ring. They are a little bit further away than I would guess you are currently looking (they are at Liphook) but if you search the forums you'll see they have very good reports, and people often drive over a hundred miles to use them.Because of the block exemption rule change, you no longer need to have servicing done by a Volvo maindealer to maintain your warranty.

I think Fawcetts of Newbury are pretty good and they do use the Volvo recommended oil, unlike a lot of the main dealers. I see you're in Bournmouth though, so that is a fair way to travel. I use an indi, Charlwood Volvo ( near Gatwick) now as they are closer to me and I'm happy with them. There is a list of indi's on the VOC main site.

Well, after a few more quotes and a couple of emails to my local dealer (who happen to own the 4 nearest Volvo dealers to me and have a monopoly here) they will knock £65 off and collect and deliver my car. I still feel I am paying through the nose because of where I live, but I will have to live with it for the convenience.

Cheapest main dealer £285
Most expensive main dealer £435
What I will pay £370
Indi £225

Pat.
