Default 2011 XC60 Tailgate / Parking Brake / Parking Sensors failed

Hi all,

My car is a 2011 XC60 2.0 D3 (FWD.)

Last week, my power-opening tailgate, parking sensors and parking e-brake all decided to refuse to function, at the same time.

I can unlock the tailgate with both the key-fob and the button on the dash but it absolutely refuses to either open or close itself, meaning a degree of heavy lifting to access the boot - with the tailgate settling half-way open - and then the same to close it again, whereupon it locks itself.

I have no parking sensors and the e-brake no longer works either.

I've checked fuses in the load bay - all seem to be intact.

I have had a towbar fitted, which is connected to the load bay fusebox. The wiring joins have been rather poorly taped up with black insulation tape (in a manner which I'd be embarrassed about, if I'd done it myself, never mind if I was purporting to be a professional installer...)

The towbar installation was in the summer and until last week, everything seemed to be wotking fine.

Should I suspect this wiring?

Does anyone have any bright ideas for fixing these three seemingly-unrelated issues?
