Start Stop unavailable also after change of battery
I am looking for help regarding the start stop system that is unavailable and messages of battery low are popping up. I am struggling with this for a longer time now. I have got a V60 D2 (chiptuned) from 2017.
During the fall the first messages came of battery low in the dashboard. After checking the battery it had only 59% capacity. It was recommended to place a new main battery. So I did. The battery was replaced, fully loaded and BMS sensor had a reset. Everything worked fine for 1 week. Then the start stop system was on/off available / unavailable for about a week. Now allready for a longer time it not available. The message is that the battery is charging / or battery is cold. After a check up in the garage they told me this was strange because everything was. Alternator was checked, chargepower, voltage, auxiliary battery etc. Till now I have done nothing about it. But something is not right. I have got a little bit a feeling that the battery just charge to around 70-75% and it then stops somehow. The last weeks I drove short and long distance, but S/S is unavailable. Also what I found out is that the battery low messages pops after after turning of the engine. This after 20 seconds when the radio is still running. It is the same after driving a long distance. Also If I switch on the stand heater, this automatically shuts off after 8 minutes due to low battery warning. Now the garage wants to replace the auxiliary battery to check if the problem is solved then. But to be honest I do not know this battery can cause this problem. I do not want to spend money all the time just replacing parts without knowing if it really solves the problem. Does somebody know what I can more about this of to solve this problem? |

There are many reasons stop start in inhibited, it should be listed in the handbook. The Aux battery has an easy life . what is the charging voltage across the battery when the engine is running? What is the voltage across the battery first thing in the morning with NOTHING on? The battery monitor stores a couple of A4 pages of very interesting info about the driving History conditions over the last week or so.. VIDA can read this out.

The battery was bought online with the same specs as the orginal battery that came out of the car: 70AH, 760A, EFB (orginal it was allready EFB, not AGM). Voltages that are measured after one night. Doors closed nothing on: 12.0V Doors open: 11.8V (then also battery low sign comes on) Engine running: 14.8V After switching the engine off, directly voltage goes back to 12.2V and withing 1 minute it is below 12V again. I think that 11.8V is to low to be honest. What can I do / try? |

It seems you have bought a battery which has been hanging around in stock without being charged regularly. ( sulphated) I would send it back and when you get a replacement make sure it is 12.7 v when you receive it. You have a better starting point then... To cut it all short get a genuine volvo battery which has a competitive price , and a good warranty and sent the other back...
