Default Is there a Bulb (Auto Gear Changer)

Can anyone please tell me if there is a bulb in the gear changing housing inside the car.

I have just got a 240 GL 1990 Auto and when its dark l cant see the P R N D 2 1 eluminating.

Have took the casing off but cant see anywhere a bulb would go

There is(/was, might be removed by PO if you didn't see it) a bulb holder on the base of the shift lever. Loosen the gear selector trim panel and look closely at the base of the shifter. On the left side (on LHD cars, may be different on yours), there should be a bulb holder. You have to remove a small screw to get to the bulb, be careful not to drop the screw into the opening.
