240se est manual
Am considering selling my 240se estate. Is 92 on j plate with 149k miles. Enjoys full service history with mot til oct 06 and tax til april 06. Pretty good condition. Was thinking about £695, is this realistic or a little over the top? Oh its an auto by the way NOT a manual..and I am probably going for a 740/760next, this is my second 240, had a 89 240 glt saloon briefly last year, they have a somewhat addictive quality to them don't they? i fear i may never drive another marque again!! Anyway your comment re price would be appreciated, thank you.

Value
If it is in reasonable 'nick' £700 sounds fair.

you should move over to an audi, handle slightly better than the volvo counterpart and something like a A6 2.7TT (250PS) Avant Quattro with an s line kit is kinda adictive, we have had (parents I mean) it about 14months (its a 2001) and just can't stop driving it! We have also got an older 1996 A6 avant 2.6 which has the same basic engine block, no where near as quick but it has been quite extensivly worked on by AMD tecknik, and has gone from 150PS and 214lb ft torque, to a pretty impressive 219bhp and 26-l ft torque, sounded nice in the first place but now thanks to a custom superspring stainless exhaust it absolutly HOOOOWLS along, I mean its not loud it just bellows and yeowls all over the spot!! love it. Buil like tanks just like volvos but not as many safety features (although if you crash at 155mph it really doesn't matter what you are driving, your a dead man/woman) and a pretty useless boot, as they are more or a speedback than an estate, both still get used and abused like they should, and the dog regulary leaves a sandy salty mess (he loves the beach) and audi never designed a proper boot protecter thing!
Anyway go and drive one, they drive pretty much like a modern volvo (kind of dull and lifeless, but quick if you get the right one!), but better quality interiors (I must say though that the mk1 a6 and a8 are far better built than their more modern counterparts, as is metalwork). |

I paid £500 pounds for a 91 240 se manual with 136K 3 weeks back but this was on a popular auction site and not a local purchase.

Thanks
Thanks for the feedback, apparently 'first post sellers' are not appreciated and should be hung out to dry or at least forced to drive something anodyne like a lada samara estate for a week...
anyway car is for sales in the relevant section and in local press so i'll let you know the score once sold!! |
