Very common with the AW TF80SC gearbox. My 2012 xc60 D5 did this at 45K so i changed the gearbox oil with the correct Volvo oil and have no problems since ,now at 81K.
I now replace 4L of oil every 20k. |

Yep.
2011 XC60 with 118,000 miles on the clock. Volvo have done the adaption's to the bearbox but that hasnt sorted the issue. Now looking at £2200 worth of solenoids in the box to solve it. Know fault on these boxes and cars. |

so the adaption hasn't worked , this is a known fault and has a known cure , it's nothing to do with solenoids . It is internal leakage on the mainshaft metal piston ring type seals behind the torque converter . Volvo have had modified seals for the last 3 years for this repair , your dealer will tell you all about it . Who told you is was solenoids?

Many AWD Volvo's do have a bit if driveline shunt that is evident on torque reversal (i.e. D to R or on/off throttle) - this is the combined lash in the gearbox, front differential, angle drive, propshaft joints etc. and sounds like a click.

Hi Clan, thats interesting, mine already has the adaptions mode, so can i assume mine has already had the updates done already and would be wasting time and money checking the software at Volvo?

gearbox ( and other ) software tweaks are ongoing, often updated .. you get free updates with every service , they will tell you which modules were updated if you ask before .
