Then 37 Ruby is likely to be on the right track. (My first car was a 37 Ruby, cut down to a two seater aluminium bodied special with an earlier engine. Somewhat easier to maintain than the XC70!)

I put it down to maybe the battery having dropped voltage where I'd been testing it a lot etc. But I'm interested in the sound of this CEM now, is it located somewhere different to the main ECU ?
Should be under the lower dash panel drivers side although it could be behind the glove box

It looks like this picture which also shows what can happen to the connector

Just checking. Is your D5 one with the twin turbos?
The fault you've described would be consistent with a fault with the smaller turbo. Once you get above 2000 RPM the bigger turbo would be spooled up and would take over.

Have you tried live data on a run to find the stutter? Clutch position sensor? When you tested the turbo actuator did it stutter? Do the turbo vanes move freely when you detach the actuator

I dont believe it is twin turbo no. It is a 2008 57 reg car and I think when I look I could only see one turbo. Unless I'm going mad which is quite possible 🤣

I havent done live data on a run no .. my laptop battery is a bit rubbish, need to get vida on a different device .. clutch position sensor .. thats an interesting one I will check the data for that .. as for the turbo actuator rod I was on my back under it visually watching it move and it seemed smooth. I havent disconnected it to try the turbo vanes to be honest with you

If you get a 12V plug-in charger for the car it will back up the laptop battery and ensure that it doesn't fail at a critical point. Since you only really use the VIDA/DiCE in the car, the battery in the laptop is of less consequence if it's plugged into the car when in use. Suitable chargers cost about £6 - £10 on ebay.

Checked cem today and no corrosion seems present.

Now wondering if it is maybe a worn cam lobe ? Do d5s have any history of doing that
