Petrol smell in cabin - Page 2

Also, I got the car in Feb this year with 88k on the clock. I’ve only worked on it cold. A quick job has turned into a bit of nightmare!

Sure hope the plugs aren't cross-threaded.

I’ve taken the car out and got it up to temperature this morning.
I’ve got a few turns on them but started to tighten up again as the engine cooled.
I’ve put some more WD40 in but it might be a long day of screwing back together, warming it up, dismantling and seeing if I can get a few more turns on them.
I’m a bit happier now I’ve actually been able to get some turns on them.
Fingers crossed.

Definitely take your time trying to remove them, but the thread isn't that thick on them so you'll be able to get them out.

Like the others have said, rethread the holes after the plugs have been removed. It'll save the replacements getting stuck themselves.

screw it just have at 'em. Breaker bar, extension an a good solid socket. Turn a bit one way and then the other slowly turning it out.

how do you get the swarf out of the cylinder after chasing the threads?

Apply grease to the thread chaser. The swarf sticks to it.

Cheers for your help guys. All sorted....finally!! A good bathing in Plusgas overnight, a thrash down the motorway over to my mates garage and getting one of his lads to use his Snap-On breaker finally got the buggers loose! Throttle response is infinitely better with new sparks and no petrol smell now. It was vapour blowing past the knackered spark.
Had a nice leisurely cruise home until the anti-skid message came up again after being off for a couple of months.
I’ll leave that for another time, there’s no abs light so pretty sure it’s the angle sensor behind the wheel.
It can wait!

The sparky-poo wasn't knackered.
It was installed by someone you should avoid.

Did they chase the threads?
Use your "mates garage" henceforward, no?
