Question Rust to bodywork

Hello and thank you for reading this message.

My car is a 2006 reg V50 1.8 petrol. It's great.

There are small areas of rust appearing on some of the edges of bodywork panels. How can this be repaired DIY? I have a stone chip touch up set but is there a procedure or product for areas that are larger than stone chips eg 1 cm wide by 3 mm tall.

Thank you!

it will depend whether it is rusted through, and whether it originates from the top from a paint chip, or from inside (inside from poor door drainage for example).

There are lots of guides. for chips if no or small rust, you can treat and touch up. For larger you need to grind/sand out the rust, treat, bond, sand, prime, paint, topcoat... Try google..

Thank you for your reply. Photo attached of rust to wheel arch.

Would you happen to know a link to a video clip dealing with rust on a Volvo? Sorry if this is a pain!

Thank you.

Our V50 had that and it was obvious it was down to previous accident damage repaired before we owned the car. When stripped back there was filler which was the giveaway. I got ours sorted by a local bodyshop as it needed taking right back to bare metal.

Question

Thank you for your reply.

Was the result worth it and was the price reasonable? £750 I could guess around?

Mine cost around £160 at a local bodyshop for one wheel arch.
