Praise be the post that started this thread! :-)
On polishing my 2003 V70 last weekend I opened the flap to do a pukka job, and on closing noticed it wasn't "square" in the aperture. Closer investigation showed that one of the "ears" that gets loaded by the spring has broken off. It's only a matter of time before I will be fitting a replacement bracket and I would (no question) have started by removing the interior trim from the wheel arch... Phew. Thanks!

I would post your question in the V70 S60 technical area, this may help you. Have you tried a forum search?
Best of luck.

Are you sure it isn't working? I don't mean to insult you, so please don't take offense, but on my V70 when you lock the car the petrol flap stays unlocked for 10 minutes. Then it locks. I can only assume this is for when you are at a petrol station; you can lock the car when you get out to refill, in case you forget to lock it when you go to pay. I find it a pain in the neck, especially in the car wash when the blower starts to dry it and it flaps it open and shut. |

Many thanks - it worked!
[QUOTE=OllieG;221928]I did mine at the weekend. As it's not even mentioned in the Haynes manual, but is very easy, I took some pictures. Here's how to do it (takes 5-10 mins).
Thanks for this. With your advice and excellent pictures I managed to remove the old hinge, fit a new one and replace the flap in less than ten minutes on my S60. I couldn't have done it without you! :-) |

Oh well, another hinge on order!! Thanks for he post. |

Received my replacement hings today from Nordic and these instructions have been a great help in swapping it over.
Didn't feel right bashing an awl into the old hinge to loosen the pins holding it to the bodywork, and I kept wincing every time I used the hammer against the awl and wondered when the nice big crease in the bodywork was going to appear... It didn't - and it had some pretty hefty braying when one of the pins refused to come out, so am well chuffed that I've done it. Oil change at the weekend and job's a good 'un! Jezza |

Hi Ollie,
I had to replace my fuel filler flap and without your step-by-step photos I wouldn't have known where to start. Finished the whole job in 10 minutes although I did use the 1/2 self-tapping screws instead of the fiddly plastic pins. Thanks once again. |

Another dodge
Often these are OK in a scrappie and it is a piece of **** to rip them off by popping the little plugs through as described, but it only takes anoher 5 minutes to save the plugs.
On an estate 740 and cousins remove metal wear plate where bootlikd closes (4 screw, No 2 posi) Remove trim panel up LH rear pillar (fingernails underneath bottom, lever slightly, twist towards boot aperture (ONLY HALF AN INCH) lift bottom end away and pop clips near top. Now you can prise the side trim from the boot area loose. Shimmy the bottom loose and an inch or so into the boot space. Now you shoul dbe ble to slide the whole trim panel rearwards and avoid destroying the concealed trim clips. Or if it's in a scrapyard, just rip the whole thing off, swearing loudly. Now you can see the inside of teh petrol filler area. Push those litle plugs in an eighth of an inch. Now with needle-nose pliers pull them througn and save them. Go round the outside, and lift the petrol flap off. CATCH ALL 4 OF THE LITTLE RUBBER half-grommets before they drop/vanish/disappear int othe 4th dimension. You have now saved all essential parts! |

Just replaced the hinge bracket on my S60 using your extremely helpful photo guide. Saved me a lot of time and head scratching too. I found that removing the bracket from the central pin took a while though.
