Default XC90 Polestar Upgrade negatively impacting fuel economy

Just had (about a week ago) the Polestar Optimisation installed on my 2016 D5 Powerpulse XC90, and although it undoubtedly is better to drive without all the throttle response delays and unnecessary gear shifts etc, it does seem to have had a detrimental impact on fuel economy.

Previously, it was regularly returning 30-32 mpg around town, and ~40 mpg on a run, depending on the heaviness of my right boot.
Since the upgrade though, I’m only seeing low 20’s about town. Not had a chance to take it on bc a run yet, but will be driving to Stourbridge from Reading later in the week so will see how that goes.

Anyone else experienced this after Polestar?

Surprised to hear you’ve had such a reduction.

Perhaps coincides with the current colder temperatures?

No change in fuel economy in my V90 CC B5 (petrol though which is even more sensitive to external/internal factors in terms of change in fuel economy).

I assume you are driving in the same driving modes, so not in Polestar mode.

Are you sure it's not your right foot? I cant imagine anyone paying for a polestar upgrade and not using it for the first week ??? Im sure it will improve as time goes by, winter doesn't help and have you got 38 psi in your tyres?

Thanks for your replies.

Good to know it doesn’t seem to impact fuel economy as a matter of course. I’ll continue to monitor and if it’s still not returning similar numbers by the time it goes in for service at the start of February , I’ll get them to investigate 👍

I must admit, I’ve given the Polestar Engineered option a couple of little tests, but most of the time it’s been in Comfort mode
I did think about increasing the tyre pressures to the economy settings, but not sure how that impacts the ride?

How quickly do you go through tanks, if not often you may also be also impacted with the switch to winter diesel, but nowhere do you get extra performance for free.
