Default Introduction!

Hi hi!

Just to introduce myself. I have been a fan of Volvo's for a few years now (I'm 18). Both my parents have Volvo's (a 740 & 850 T-5) so for my first car i'm naturally looking towards Volvo's...

Went through the various models, looking at prices/features etc and decided on the 850. I'd like a T-5 (I'm on my parent's policy for theirs - a '94 CD Estate) but the insurance for me on my own is a bit painfull. Hence I'm looking for a 2.0 or 2.5 20v version.

I have spied a red saloon with the T-5 kit (16" Alloys, spoilers, sideskirts) for a good price and possibly going to look at it soon, if all goes well I'll purchase it (it's a late N plate 2.0), 98k on the clock.

If you've seen my previous posts you'll know that I'm not a fan of the 2-litre 850 which in my view is an under-engined tax break car designed for the company car park.

They're damn hard to sell, which is why the one you mention is at a good price....

Go for a 2.5 20V which will be little more to insure than the 2-litre and a much better drive.

Plenty of choice on this site and on the web generally, though again I'd go for a car that's not miles away unless - like my one - it's one of a kind and very much worth the journey.

Hi Darren,

Just a note to say watch out for that car you're looking at - T5s didn't have different sideskirts to N/A cars as far as I know so make sure it isn't some boy racers pass-off.

I would just like to agree with simon,
Steer clear of the 2 litre version 850
As My father in-law bought one and he Immediately
changed it again due to it being underpowered.
He's always had volvo's and he remarked to me that
it was the worst one he had ever driven power wise.
He now owns a 940 classic (turbo)
