Very tempted to do the grill and door surrounds in my bursting blue R Design S90. I’d also prefer the mirrors body coloured too but hey ho.

How much did it cost to de-chrome? I assume it’s just wrapped in gloss black??

Is it done with Plastidip, which can be peeled off, or did you actually buy the black trim to replace the original chrome strips?

This would be ideal for my very dark grey Inscription, upon which the chrome side window surrounds are just a bit 'too much' for my taste.

Looks very good indeed!

My guess is that it is probably done with vinyl....roof certainly will be, unless you decided to paint it black!

Hi guys,

So I had the following done:

Debadged by dealership
Tinted front windows 50%
De chromed all (most) chrome bits, Volvo logo front and back and exhaust remain chrome
Tinted rear tail lights
Wrapped roof with gloss black including A pillars

The de-chrome was vinyl wrapped with gloss black, so all the de chrome are easily removable.

Everything cost me around GBP 500, fair price is would say .

I hadn't thought that it could be vinyl wrap. If its wrap, then maybe it wouldn't be too expensive to do my chrome. I hope it is vinyl wrap. Plastidip just isn't durable enough for my liking.

Excellent value for the striking result, especially since there's £83.34 of VAT in £500 most probably, unless someone did it as a hobble. The black roof really does suit the car. I've a wrapping and sign writing specialist just down the road from me. I'll pop in some time this week to see whether they can do my chrome and the radiator grill in black. If the grill can't be wrapped, there is a paint shop next door to the wrapper that could do it I'm sure.

forgot to mention, the inscription grill that i have, the vertical stripes remain untouched as they are black on the sides but chrome at the front. I consulted the workshop and they said there is no point as the wrap wont stay on for long. I decided to leave it and I think the result is actually quite cool. Mainly black but with a subtle hint of chrome.

R-design wouldn't have such a problem.
