Mike - I'm going mad with my install. Same issue, needing to have the old head unit connected (though I don't have power at my new head unit for some reason, which I'm hoping is benign).

How did you get round the nonsense of the retention of the existing display unit?

EDIT: The power to the new Head Unit was because I hand't plugged in the remote control unit... Still stuck on the retention of the existing display to make it all work.

Im looking at doing some upgrading as well and there's a video on YouTube re this but you have to leave the old facia controls tucked in behind and under new head unit to stop warnings flagging up as various things go through old controls and amp will have to be bypassed all is on the video
I would put link on but using Mac and don't know how to do it on this
( still learning )

From memory....You can split the old unit it into 3 components by unscrewing from the main fascia. You have to still connect the main part of the old unit. I just taped it up and threw it back in the cavity. There are also 2 fibre optic leads you need to loop off. I got these wires as part of my kit. DO NOT start the car without that otherwise you get an airbag error.

Yep. Found an other thread that pointed that out. You need to keep the central electronics behind the display. 5 minute job to disassemble once you work it out.

I have the airbag error, but assume that's easily wiped with. VIDA?

So I'm using mine as a reference: MY2009

The factory microphone is a single-core shielded cable connected directly to the amplifier

Pin B:16 = signal (mic +ve), white wire, the inner of the shielded cable
Pin B:6 = shield (mic -ve), the braid (shield) of the shielded cable.

The shielded cable goes directly to the microphone, which is likely an electret mic, although I do not know for sure.
Finally got some time during lockdown so having a go at this. Can anyone help me with the above. I have a 63 plate (MY11) and I think the factory mic is actually above the driver’s seat in a small disc. I can see (what I think is the mic wire) going down the drivers pillar but no idea where it goes to so I can re route to my radio.

Any help appreciated. Thanks. !

Where did you get your facia plate from and are you happy with the fit?

I’m not confident enough to do the install myself, is there anyone you’d recommend in the north west that could do it?

Thanks
