Instrument cluster
I'll try another one... I have the instrument cluster with a central speedometer and the rev counter to the left and to the right a combined fuel and temp gauge. I have noted that there is another type with a rev counter and speedometer in the same size and temp gauge on the left and fuel on the right. Does anyone know why they are different (i.e. different years, models etc.) and if they are interchangeable?
George

Mine is also as you describe, central speedo with revs on the left and combined fuel and temp on the right, and mine is 2002.

Yes, I suspect that is the one. I wonder then if it is a straight swap. Mind you, I found one so cheap it is worth a try maybe.

As P156KWJ already said, they appeared sometime around mid 2002 and until 2004. They have LEDs instead of standard bulbs and the connectors at the back are completely different to all other previous instrument clusters. So, no, it is not a straight swap I am afraid

Although I thought these were the phase 2 models, and the phase 1.5 was up until 2002, with the older instrument cluster and 4 spoke steering wheel?

I think the instrument panel facelift must have happened some time in 2002, as my 02 t4 is set out like the first picture, the Speedo in the centre and the fuel and temp combined on the right, which is the same layout as my 1999 phase 1 2.0 had, whereas my 52 2.0 SE has the rev counter and Speedo central with the fuel and temp gauges on opposite sides, like the second picture.

Mine is from February 2002 and has the one in the first picture. If the connectors are different, I assume the wiring from a 2003 V40 also won't fit. Darn...

The unofficial term p1.5 was up to around early mid 2000. Reason for this, was that quite a few cars around 2000 came with a mixture of phase 1 and phase 2 parts. The Phase 2 models were from around mid 2000 and up to 2004, but around mid 2002, they introduced a facelift, with the newer 4 dial instrument cluster, 3 spoke steering wheel, cupholders etc
