Default XC60 Arm Rest

Hi there

I'm a new Volvo owner having bought an XC60 after having a series of Landrovers.

So far, so good. Impressed with it and how it handles, although the emission light has come on. Even after £30 of Shell V Power, it's still on, guessing it just dirt on the sensor ???

My main question is related to the arm rest, in the Landrovers I had a central cubby box, great to rest your elbow on for long drives.

The Volvo has one, but it's lower and doesn't seem to give me the same driving position.

Is there an after care market product to fit that gives more height, which is what I had to do for the LR Freelander.

The other question is can I put the lights off at all or are they always on ?? I remember that Volvos historically always had their lights on.

Any other tips and pointers would be greatly received.

Thanks

Phil

No the running lights have to be on all the time ,

being world leaders in safety volvo do not have a high centre console as it is considered dangerous to drive with your arms constrained , you are unable to react and steer immediately if you need to and it is considered not in proper control of the car.

The warning message could be dozens of things , it is best to get the fault codes read and not leave it as it could increase the cost of repair as soot may be building up in the cooler or particle filter ..

I don't have a problem with the central console, but my wife, as a passenger, does. Her elbow rests on the edge of the console, which is quite hard. She now has a small soft rolled up blanket on which to rest. Anyone know a good upholsterer who may have a sensible solution?

Coming from Landrovers myself I also noticed the armrest issue, but you do get used to it eventually to a certain extent.

Did you buy your Volvo from a dealer ? if so take it back to have the warning light sorted.
