Default Ambient temperature fix - passenger door module (uk)

Hello all, thought I would share this with interested parties.

I have on/off incorrect temperature readings on my 06 V50 T5; I have cleaned and greased up the connector at the door, which sometimes cures it, but of late not at all.

Following the Haynes manual, I removed the passenger door card so I could inspect the wiring behind it. All looked ok, but whilst there I removed the passenger door module (PDM) and cleaned up the printed circuit board with electrical contact cleaner & all other plugs whilst there. Insert and remove plugs a few times to remove any dirt etc.

The module is connected to the electric window motor, so three torx bolts need to be removed before you can unplug the PDM and give it a clean.

I would add that I also disconnect the -ve from the battery before starting, just to be safe in terms of the components.

I did this two weeks back, and "touch wood" have had correct temp readings and full use of a/c etc since. I do have my fingers firmly crossed!

NB. Above is for UK model, for US & Euro - drivers side.

I'm interested in doing this myself, as I have already cleaned the door connector, which has improved it slightly but hasn't solved it completely.

Is it easy enough to remove the door card, as I don't have a Hanes Manual?

Thanks

Really sorry, totally missed the questions.

If you have no Haynes manual, see this video:https://youtu.be/MZeeGL1F08I

Maybe make sure you have some spare door card clips in case you break any!

Cheers,
Craig

I need to do this, I get a dodgy temp reading and rubbish ac.

I just need to get some decent pry tools. Is there a guide on what door plug to clean? I've never done that.

My 05 model has this issue, sometimes just using the electric window is enough to disturb the connector and affect the temp reading.

The 'dirty fix' is to turn off the ignition and slam/thump the passenger door/door card and then ignition back on again. The issue is definitely in the door card rather than at the A-pillar. The later cars had an A-pillar issue though but that was mostly dealt with in recalls.
