Hi,

Its a surface mount capacitor. It will need re-soldering back on. It is used for a number of reasons. I suspect it smooths the voltage in this case.

Check that the solder pads on the PCB are still there and have not broken off with the capacitor.

The capacitor is polarity conscious and needs to go back on the correct way. Check with someone who has one to send a picture of the capacitors position.

If its just a case of re soldering back on use a very fine tip soldering iron.

Bob

I just looked at a pcb and it's on the same way (polarity) as the one I looked at.
If it is hanging by one leg there is another leg on the opposite side that will need soldering back. If it's been pulled off with force it will likely have damaged the delicate surface track.
Have you got a mobile phone repair shop locally? Ask if they can repair surface mount and you may get it repaired for a small sum.
If you bought online with PayPal get a refund, the seller has to pay post in advance, I had to send one back this way.

I remember you enquiring about my Dice units so just out of interest, why did you buy elsewhere?
I hasten to add that none of my Dice would ever be sent out in such a condition as each one is rigorously tested.
