Alarm Siren
Alarm siren wanted.
I have the original and a spare, both 8637399, and both of them are too corroded and I am unable to get them working. Anyone have a similar one I can take apart and repair? I have already bought the new battery - just need another circuit board. Keith 07742 694322

I have now stripped three and none of them were able to be repaired - they were all too badly burned and even with a bit of solder, wouldn't work.
Surely someone has one spare? Please?

Alarm Siren type 8637399
This morning I removed the fourth one which also didn't work!
Anyone else got one I can try? Each one I've looked at has been so badly corroded that components are falling off the board.

Simmy over the years I've managed to repair quite a few and avoid paying even more money to Volvo. I don't want to give them £175 for a £4 circuit board, a £2 Nicaed battery, and a lump of plastic!
Why reward them for a poor design? if they had just put the battery below the board in a separate section we wouldn't have the problem. This time though I can't find one - yet! I live in hope.

Hi,
Is there an easy way to bench test the siren? I have one from a broken V70 that I can't test on the car. Have taken it apart and the battery is knackered naturally but the circuit board looks reasonable. If I can test it and it works then I'm happy to sell it. Steve

Sirens why are the parts so expensive
So I read the posts above and went looking for prices
These sirens are listed on e bay between 160 and 200 quid for NEW sirens alone about 208 quid on scandix.de just for the siren alone Today I called a Volvo dealer for prices as of today £182:40 for the siren only, part 9452707 £249:08 for the kit, part 9499758 £51:16 for the bonnet catch only (included in the Kit), part 31218475 Individually that lot adds up to £233:56 for the kit parts separately not including the stickers and rivets fuse and shear bolt extra packaging and instructions in the kit. The kit is £249:08 a difference of £15:52 so how can they sell the bonnet catch separately for £51:15 if its in a kit for £15:52 extra including the stickers, rivets, fuse and shear bolt extra packaging and instructions in the kit. Also the amount of time spent messing around with old sirens and spending a fair bit on old ones looking for a good one over some time is still better than paying full Volvo prices like I did on a new genuine one but only if you find a good one and it does not fail again a month or so later like my second hand one did. So i got a NEW genuine alarm kit at massive expense. Having said that Due to auto gearbox failure my new siren kit is now not required and for sale brand new in the box and I would accept £100 for the whole thing posted as I want to get back at least some of my money i spent before the gearbox failed and rendered the car scrap Last edited by AndrewBrown; Aug 4th, 2017 at 14:27. all the ones I have had were totalled by the corrosive acid jam that leaks from the batteries
