high compression engines...
hiya,
im just wondering what makes the 2.4 and 2.5t lumps high compression as i read somewhere the two engines are high comp low boost engines as opposed to the 2.3 and 2.5(R) low compression lumps using high boost cant you just buy forged pistons/ head with larger compression chambers to lower the compression ratio and increase the boost to basically make a 2.4R lol just been reading a vauxhall forum i used to use and remembered the high compression and low compression engines thanks |

The high boost engines are strenghened internally so it's not just compression ratio that matters.
Quite honestly it would be much more cost effective to change the engine for a high boost one. Having had both types I've found that for normal road use the low boost ones are much nicer to drive and nippier around town. |

yeah i know what you mean about them being nippy, there's pretty much no lag (it does have it's downsides though like when you go to set off slowly lol) "oops, bit to much light throttle" do you know how the T5 and R lumps are internally strengthened? like is it the head thats strengthened or the bottom end? thanks |

It think it's pretty much all of it, there are also additional oil spray pipes and uprated cylinder liners from memory.
