thanks
I still wonder how this only affects idle rpm when rolling. Once I come to a standstill the rpm is steady.

Default Spark plugs

I hope i am not jumping the gun! Only done this tonight. After cleaning throttle body changing plugs coils and sensors vacuum hope. And swirl valves !! Done all the things everyone said do i have almost done. Well i thought i was putting higher quality plugs in i saw some volvo original plugs going for a tenner brand new so i brought them and now fitted the car runs like a dream hope it lasts. Cannot believe plugs with volvo logo on can make so much difference. Please hope it lasts. Give it a try

how has it been holding up after the OEM spark plug exchange? Mine have been changed only 6000 miles ago so I would doubt that it makes any difference.

did you experience the same bouncing idle before?

Default running well

I honestly cannot believe how putting volvo plugs in can make all that difference, it taught me a lesson in fitting standard things first, i am sure some mechanics will question putting standard plugs in, well no more lumpy idle and flat spots when trying to accelerate can put foot down in 5th and no juddering!
hope ive not cursed it bu bragging to soon.

The diagnostic trace for this issue implicates the throttle body (see vida dice/diagnostric trace), but the throttle body is just an actautor part of the air intake control system, a feedback system whose response is controlled by the input values from the pressure sensor that is mounted directly in the air intake manifold. The pressure sensor gets clogged and fails eventually due to dirt/oil deposits that build up on one side of the membrane within the sensor itself in effect causing deviation in the output values from the sensor which are critical for the ECM to ensure proper engine control. The result is the motor lags/ or hesitates when the acceleration pedal is pressed. The engine has difficulty starting, enough vacuum is not created for ignition... etc. The solution is to change the pressure sensor or clean it. Ideally the whole intake manifold must be cleaned, however that could be done, in order to prolong the time to the next failure. Yes, the nature of the problem implies that it will eventually fail after some time. From my experience failure occurs after 1.5 service periods.

Default V50 1.8

Hi
I am new here and I've been reading what everyone saying. It's very interesting. I have idle issue with my v50 but it's slightly different. The idle goes up on start up and stays up 1300 for some time longer than usuall I would say however it goes back down if I drive off. Also every time I rev the engine it goes up and goes does very slowly after I take my foot off and during changing gear it goes up.the car feels a bit slow

Initially I changed the tope hose the one between the air box and the throttle body as it was split this made slight improvement. After reading all the comments I've changed the map sensor and the manifold hose in the bottom but no change so far.

If you can help pls let me know .

After changing the Pressure sensor this issue returned a half year later. So here comes another solution as the sensor all work together:
