Active Bending Lights - replacement
Hi. One of the xenon bulbs (are they bi-xenon? )on my S60 MY13 is flickering (not all the time), therefore I think it needs the bulb that needs replacing?
I wondered what the standard manufacturer of the bulbs Volvo use are? There seem all sorts available such as Osram, Philips and Neolux. The manual states they should be done by a dealer (assuming because of voltage), is it possible to do at home? Also heard it's best to replace both? |

I can't help with sourcing, but yes I would expect to change them both if it's a bulb failure

You absolutely need to change both as the colour temperature changes as xenon bulbs are used as is the light output level and you would notice the difference but just in the colour but how far the lights projects
Changing at home is as easy as changing a halogen bulb, keep you finflgers of the glass and don’t stick them into the connectors As for make, buy genuine not cheap - Osram have a way that you can check authenticity however you may find that the Volvo bulb is competitively priced.

One of mine has also started flickering recently. I found it can be cured temporarily by giving the headlight a thump, so it looks like a bad connection somewhere. There's no sign of any water ingress or anything.
Mine's a company car so I've been waiting to see if it fails completely before taking it in.

Just got these for my XC60, only had one discoloured but as advised changed both, replaced one Osram & one Phillips, so previous owner obviously only changed one at some time, cheapest I could find but they are genuine.

Had to look at the link for the lamp out of curiosity...... ouch! Also had a nice smile when I read the post saying that a good thump on the headlamp sorted it! Reminded me of being sent to bang the t.v as a lad! Thanks.

Did any of the forum members see tonight’s episode of ‘Fake Britain’? (20.11.17) Very interesting feature on headlamps, scary, BE CAREFUL!
