Updating S40 Aerial

Hi, I am a new user seeking advice. I have had my 2003 S40 for three years now. Recently my aerial was snapped. I bought an exact replacement but mechanic said it can'd be used and to buy a generic one. My question is does anybody know what attachments I need to connect this new aerial to my s40?Thanks!

The one you bought looks like the aerial for the V40's pre 2002. This is what you are after, just check against your car http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/...oducts_id=7039

Thanks for your reply. I did originally buy that replacement part but the mechanic states a replacement cant be put on the car, that's why I got the universal one.

I think you need to start from scratch - that aerial stump on your car looks well b*ggered.

The universal stalk you bought fits a V40 that has a roof mounted bee sting type of aerial. The link Haizum posted is the correct mast for the S40 but there is no way it will fit your existing stump.

Get a working aerial from a scrap S40 - you will then be able to replace the whole lot and the job should be good. If by any chance the mast on the new aerial does not go up and down smoothly, you can always replace the mast as per Haizum's link.

The bit attached to the car is fine, the rusty part and the rest is all in one which would come off the bit attached to the car (you can see the threads) and the one I linked to would slot in.
