And on the south coast. Admittedly only for 15mins but that still counts!

So... anyone else notice A LOT of wheel spin off their Conti's??

Bit greasy out today, just got it back from dealer with fixed AOC at rear. Gave it beans at about 10mph and got the traction warning on.

Then again on an incline junction and it was a lot of spin, traction light flashing.

Reason i'm asking is I gave the loaner xc90 on summer pirelli's some abuse off the lights on way to dealer, on the flat and it just gripped and flew.

I seem to remember getting more spin off my conti winters last time i had them a few cars back but back to back comparison, same car in theory and i'm a little bit hmmmm.

Car is set to comfort too, not dynamic.

temp was reading 5/6c

Nope, no wheel spin with my winter Contis and not had the traction warning come on ever. My previous CR-V would wheel spin if setting off fast on a wet road that was slightly uphill but it's never happened on the XC90.

Mine is a D5, obviously a T8 has a completely different AWD system.

Going to test it out more tomorrow and see if my rear wheels actually drive any power!!

This is not normal FFS... the winter rubber is more grippy than summers and the temp has been below 7c yet my car is behaving like a 100% FWD.

Looks like I changed over to my Nokian Winter tyre yesterday just in time!
Had a nice journey to work this morning with the whole of the outside lane of the A5/M54 almost to myself with only a few cm's of fresh snow whilst the inside lane was hardly moving.
Was great fun at lunch time in the office carpark when colleagues were unable to get their all singing all dancing BMW's, Mercedes, etc up a slight slope out of the carpark.....

Question to those who switched to winter tyres:

Are you keeping a separate set of wheels for winter or simply swapping the tyres on to existing wheels?

Not used winter tyres before, but am thinking of switching to winters on this XC90.

Dealer is quoting around £2,250 for 20" wheels with winter tyres. If I just use existing wheels and go for new tyres, it could cost around £1,200 for a Goodyear or Dunlop.

Are these quotes reasonable?

I think you can do a lot better for winter tyres from and Independent tyre company and save around £400. A very quick search on google showed dunlops around £220, and average for all makes was around £200.

I swap the tyres myself, so I have a set on separate wheels.
