Thanks guys the thing has settled back down with no hint of the warning light(watch me post tomorrow with an "it's back" post). I'll try and get any codes read by the guy from work who is now back from his holidays, not sure I know someone with an air temp device to check against the temps posted (will ask around) but it was toasty this morning on the A3 car park on the slow commute in.

It was suggested to me that I blow out the sensor with an aerosol of compressed air (as you would use on a computer). It didn't work for me as that was not the problem. Have you looked at my 'Heater' thread on my XC60?

I have seen your other thread, but as I posted my comment 3 weeks before you started your new thread I assumed you would have looked at my comment earlier

Shame it wasn't the cure for your issue as that would have saved you £350, hopefully it will save somebody else some scheckels in the future.

I had a Peugeot 406 2litre petrol. I'm on my 2nd S60 2007/2008 D5 185bhp. I was p*ssed off to find how poor the S60's heaters were compared to the Pug 406. With the 1st S60 I thought there must be a prob, as they're designed in Scandinavia etc. etc. But My current one is just as poor. The Pug heated up quicker, and got noticeably hotter.

FYI in winter, when frozen up, I find it helps to put the sunvisors down to about 45 degrees away from the windscreen (ie. not flat - but close enough for the warm air to blow up and then be 'reflected' back down again over the screen. It keeps the warm air circulating between the visors and the dash top, rather than wasted by carrying on across the roof lining. It does speed defrosting up.

BTW. I have an AirCon recharge kit from Halfrauds, which I've used 'successfully' on 3 previous cars (Ford/Mazda/Mitsu Charisma-S40). I couldn't find any info on where's the correct union on the S60 to attach the kit. There are 2, black plastic cap - 'Max 3Nm' inside the bonnet landing panel 6" to the right of the O/S H/light. One to the left of the engine block on an ally tube mounted on the inner wing running front to back, black plastic cap 'Max 6Nm'. I daren't remove the caps to take a look, in case I broke something as I didn't know if they screwed off or are pop-off. However a search on here revealed that on the Volvo's, these kits are a bad idea, and could knack the system over time. A 'pro' would actually purge the system 1st, re-fill to the correct pressure with the right substances AND includes a dye which reveal any leaks. Recharge kits can apparently contain too much lube which can block the system. Ho hum.....

Strange, both my XC60 D5 and V40 D2 get hot very quickly, just a few minuets to feel warm in cold weather, no issues at all with speed of warm up or defrosting the screens.

I agree Peugeot's heating system is far superior to the Volvo one.

Same, no issues here. Although generally find the heater gets hotter quicker of the AC is off.

I don't usually have my AC on in the winter at all, just turn it on occasionally to keep it working OK until the summer. Only time I use it in the winter is if it is very wet and humid I use it to keep the inside of the car dry.
