Default Interesting BBC News article old petrol vs newer diesel

As per title, a 2 cars in the family, a 20 odd yr old Volkswagen Golf petrol and a 9 yr old Skoda Oktavia diesel are put through tests to see which is 'dirtier' and a confused set of results are obtained.

It tends to suggest that the whole measurement of 'best' is very much open to interpretation and misinformation.

Also (surprise, surprise) manufacturers are gaming the system (still) by producing good tests results that aren't replicated in 'real-world' driving conditions.

Thanks for this link. Results were much as I had suspected. I visited the independent test site but no lists of cleaner models/engines was available.
