Vida dice tips please?
Hi
Using Vida, any idea if I can check on the state of the dpf? Can you see figures for soot levels or perhaps air flow/pressure? To give an idea of when a regeneration would be worth carrying out? Unfortunately I do a lot of short journeys and I have a constant nagging thought that I should be looking at a regenration as a possible preventative step. Also how do you set a regeneration going? Thanks

I too have Vida and interested in monitoring regeneration - it suggests ranges when regeneration is due so you can monitor with yours and when DPF is filling up suggest you take for half hour blast which will do the car good and hopefully regenerate.

Does this imply that its done stationary?
I assumed you would set it to regenrate then take it for a spin? Can you remember what section its under? Thanks

The manually triggered regen is designed to run when the vehicle is stationary, for use in workshop situations
It revs the engine up to something like 2000 RPM and cycles the revs a bit to get everything up to regen temperature - which is a very hot DPF. Tannaton advises it is noisy and takes around 20min Why don't you plan a weekend drive to the seaside down the motorway? You'll achieve the same thing but get more enjoyment out of the exercise....

...and I've never triggered it myself as I have never had to, my XC90 is a good girl and does it all herself.

you do not need to blast it , a gentle drive at 50 - 60 mph is just fine ...

Can you select/set a forced regeneration then take it for a drive or must it be done stationary?
Thanks

as long as your system is working correctly it should regenerate on a run and if it will not , you will need the system fault tracing or a new particle filter .

Probably will occur naturally if you are doing 40/50 mile runs a day on motorways but I do 10 mins twice a day. So what I am trying to do is a bit of preventative maintenance and see if vida says its due or close to try and force it to regenerate. Or is it a case of no way and just hope and trust to luck? Which is Not very clever really is it? Surely there's a way? Also Clan... What does "running on oil" mean? sounds worrying...
