speed limiter and start/stop

Just noticed on my nov2017 xc60 if I select speed limiter then stop at a red light for example the car engine keeps running i.e. does not stop engine

In adaptive cruise mode start stop works fine

anyone else notice this or have i a fault

Probably not a fault, most likely an "undocumented feature" as my IT friends refer to Windows "bugs".

I have not noticed myself, but I rarely use the speed limiter feature. There are so many reasons why the engine might not stop eg. battery condition, temperature, heavy electrical load (heated seats, steering wheel etc.) towing a trailer (more precisely, something plugged into the trailer electrical socket) etc. etc.

I will try and remember to test for the "feature" next time I use the car.

I tried mine this morning after your query, with speed limiter engaged the start/stop function continued to work perfectly.

Check that you don't have any high electrical loadings, heated seats, steering wheel, screen defroster etc as they will prevent stop/start from working, as will a 'cold' engine.

Thank you Paul for info mine must have a software bug as when i select adaptive cruise control under the exact same conditions it works, then select speed limiter and it fails
However i will also be more aware to check heated seats steering wheel electrical load
its only 4 weeks old so i will log these things down for 3 month check up in Feb

Checked mine today.

Temp -4C Stop/start not working on speed limiter or cruise control even after 25 miles.

Temp rises to 0C. still not working.

Temp continues to rise to a balmy +1C, stop/start working when either speed limiter or cruise control set.

I can assume therefore that the temperature has to be above freezing for this feature to work.

Don't forget stop start doesn't work in dynamic mode in case you ever wondered.

Yes i know start stop does not work in dynamic mode

this fault has been happening since new (nov 2017)

I have the intellisafe pro pack and so gives me adaptive cruise as opposed to cruise control if that makes any difference

The engine does not auto-stop in the following cases:

• The car has not reached approx. 10 km/h (6 mph) after starting.
• After a number of repeated auto stops, speed must again exceed approx. 10 km/h (6 mph) before the next auto stop.
• The driver has unfastened the seatbelt.
• The capacity of the starter battery is below the minimum permissible level.
• The engine is not at normal operating temperature.
• The ambient temperature is under -5 °C or above approx. 30 °C.
• The windscreen's electric heating is activated.
• The environment in the passenger compartment deviates from the set values.
• The car is reversing.
• The starter battery's temperature is below or above the permitted limit values.
• The driver makes sweeping steering wheel movements.
• The road is very steep.
• The bonnet is opened.
• When driving at high altitudes when the engine has not reached operating temperature.
• The ABS system has been activated.
• In the event of heavy braking (even without the ABS system having been activated).
• Many starts during a short period of time have activated the starter motor's thermal protection.
• The exhaust system's particulate filter is full.
• A trailer is connected electrically to the car’s electrical system.
• The gearbox is not at normal operating temperature.
• The gear selector is in ± position.
