Default Pitfalls

Looking round for a new to car and fancy awd as we often do festival type fields, haven't a big budget, but did see a 02 v70 awd, 166k. Now having owned a v70xc 98, I know opinions vary on the volvo awd system, but I know nothing of what's fitted to this later car. So if anyone could advise, should I stay clear ?
