Default Front seat removal?

Hi

New to the site just moved from the world of mondeo St to the world of Volvo.... But I've not got off to a good start... Vaccing the car out noticed the drivers side is sodden front to back ..air con drain clear, no sunroof, no sign of leak when water testing it...it has had a new screen last week so fingers crossed that's solved the problem...time may tell... Looking at things, it's had a leak for a while!

Been looking for a guide on removing the front seats in my Volvo v50 2005. It looks simple but I imagine there is a process!

Any advice appreciated

Need to dry the carpet out I've a wet floor!!!

After that, I need a new igniter for the xenon headlight! Thought it would be just the bulb....nope they're a dear do for a light aren't they!!!?.?

I just did this last weekend.
  1. Remove seat frame caps. There is a 3mm dot to depress on the forward covers fron inside the seat track. (I don't remember the trick for the rear caps - I broke the snaps when I first did this.)
  2. Remove (4, each side) 14mm cap screws
  3. Drive powered seats to forward position & recline
  4. DISCONNECT BATTERY
  5. Remove side seat panel (1 Torx (#20?) screw on inside front)
  6. Unclip seat belt anchor from seat
  7. Get a second human to help move seat
  8. Remove seat out rear door
  9. Remove door threshold trim
  10. Slide front carpet pan out from trim. There is one fastener on wheel well side of forward carpet pans.
  11. Remove rear carpet pan. ("But the water was in the front!" Unfortunately, there is actually no division between front and back floor areas.)

It is ~just possible~ to slip the carpets out without removing the seats: After removing the frame cap screws, the seats can be tipped back without stressing the wiring harness. They can then be tipped forward to free up the rear carpet pan. The seats can be bolted back while the carpets and their 2" of open cell foam backing are spending their week in a warm dry place.

That said, it is MUCH easier to "bite the bullet" and remove the seats.

No sunroof and still wet, eh? Assuming you have a RHD vehicle, you may have a blocked AC drain. It will be visible on the right side of the center hump. A few windshields have developed sealing failures as well.

After you allowed the carpet/foam to dry, did you use any type of disinfectant (lysol, deodorizer)?

I just had to dry out my 2004.5 S40 on the passenger side. The most difficult part for me was getting the plastic seat rail covers off the rear of the rails. I tried using a screwdriver and straight plastic trim tools to try to pry off, or push open, any tabs on the underside of the covers that were holding it. Nothing seemed to help except brute force. And it didn't appear as if I damaged the parts. I post the pictures here (if I can) to help anyone else trying to remove these covers.
