Default Parking assist and reversing lights not working

2010 V50 1.6
Hi all,
my first post here and I am having a problem with the park assist and reversing lights.
After recently removing and cleaning the ecu after some strange electrical niggles both the park assist and reversing lights have stopped working. The sensors are working as I car hear them all ticking when the car is in reverse.
My local independent volvo specialist investigated and had a look at the reverse switch and even when they bridged the switch the reverse lights did not come on. They diagnosed a faulty ecu which would need to be replaced. My question is there a reversing module that could be changed as I don’t want to spend £500+ to get the car through an mot.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Mark

The rule to check reversing lights on an MOT is pretty recent and only applies to post 2009 cars, so you might be lucky on an MOT

4.6 Reversing lamps
4.6.1 Condition and operation

You must inspect all reversing lamps fitted to vehicles first used from 1 September 2009.

Reversing lamps must show a white light to the rear. On some vehicles it may be necessary to have the engine running before the reversing lamps will work.

At least one reversing lamp must be fitted.

Buses over 6m long may have 4 reversing lamps which may be:

all showing white light to the rear
2 showing white light to the rear and one on each side

Defect Category

A reversing lamp inoperative

Major
