B234f engine Timing belt tension tool 998/8500
Am looking for a Volvo tensioning tool p/n 998/8500 for the B234f 16v engine - have been searching for some years with no luck.
Interested in either purchasing or loan / rental of this tool - urgently need to get my 740GLT back on the road as currently without a working car and mine hasn't had the cambelt or balance shaft belts changed since about 2010 Located in Bham area if anyone has one that I could borrow / rent for a short time |

http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=97949 Same tool as they use. Alternatively, fit the new belts yourself, get the tension roughly right, drive it gently to your local Volvo dealer with the belt covers off (to save them time removing them) and get them to check the tension.

tool
You mean the tool for the balance shaft belt? I'd delete them and save yourself the hassle. You dont need a tool for the timing belt

I have asked a few people at various Bham dealers and specialists and they invariably say ‘Oh we used to have one of them, binned it years ago’.. I am in Hall Green / Shirley area. Currently about to bite the bullet and strip out the heater matrix and water valve - wet carpets and coolant coming from the central dash vents. This recommissioning job may take longer than I hoped.. |

I had clocked the Porsche similarity. I have thought about ordering a cheapo version that one Porsche spares site sells. Don’t know any Porsche heads unfortunately

That might be your best option if you really want to set the timing belt and balancer belts tensions by the gauge.

I have one of these tools and drive into Shirley every so often - if you wish me to pop round for half an hour with the tool, while you tension your belts, i'd be happy to do so.
