Default oh no not another SRS thread....

Hi All,

Just looking for some confirmation of my next steps before I commit to this...

With VIDA - DiCE up and running I have been able to check the error codes on my 2007 C30 2.0D.
I have three, two of which I’m asking about here (another post coming up for the other code).

The codes

SRS-0005 Battery power supply Low voltage
SRS-CFFF Control module Internal Fault

It seems to me I need to follow these two guides
Remove waterfall console
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9ICyZ5cWPw
Remove SRS module (I know this is the S40, but it’s in the same place??
https://www.facebook.com/notes/alex-...8024701621953/

And send the module to the team at Crashdata.

Whilst the module is away, does the first error message mean I need a new battery? I will go through the normal checks, but whilst the engine was running I was at 14.1v recorded in VIDA. During the cold weather this week it was a little slow to crank over once. Could this have been the trigger for a low battery warning on the SRS module?

The warning came on last Friday evening when the temperature was about 3deg C.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Both,

A bit of an update. I checked the battery ~12.4v after a few minutes of engine off but lights on. Whilst the engine is running it goes up to 14.4v, and under starting crank load it dipped just below 10v. I think this is okay based on a few google searches but happy to be corrected.

The car is pretty new to me, 6 months or so and the battery looks to be relatively new, but it is on the list of things to replace as and when.

I managed to get the SRS module out at the weekend and shipped to Crashdata. It looks like they have already processed it and it is in the return post.

It was also £60+VAT and postage for the service.

Next up is the refit when it arrives.

Cheers,

Just closing out on this.

The SRS module came back with a note on it saying the cause of the error was likely the low (12v) supply to it.

Not wanting to put it back in and have the error reoccur I stumped for a new battery from GSF, then put the module back in. I will keep an eye on the alternator

The C30 is slightly different to the guide linked above, but not significantly. If any one wants my pictures/a write up then let me know.

It is all back in, the error did not need VIDA to clear.

All in all very happy with Crashdata and the very quick turnaround. Would be interesting to know what they did/how they did it!

If they think it was low supply voltage it sounds like they didn't do anything, but perhaps clear a stored code?

Maybe, I think that is what they do isn't it? Just clear codes that require a special interface to program/read/erase that we just don't have the gear or knowledge for?

I have a very similar issue to yours...and a post about it on this site. I had low crank volts on my battery when I bought the car and "waited" to replace it. Odd thing was after I replaced the battery...all was fine...and THE NEXT DAY it throws the CFFF code. Go figure. but I need to send CrashData the module. I think they re-flash the software in the module because I have a good reader and can clear "soft codes"...but that damn CFFF code is a "hard code" and won't let you clear it until the "issue" that caused it is resolved.

Yep another vote for crashdata here. Used those guys plenty times and never had an issue. Had cars crash after using them and no airbag fails. Nothing but praise for them.
