Default SRS code deciphering SRS-020E

Just went to a friendly garage who managed to read the codes on my v70 98/99 for the SRS light. One of them was expected as ive just done a seat swap and havent got the correct resistors in place yet as the new seats are mechanical fire.

However, there was a second code on there that i presume is the reason the light was on before the seat swap and read -

SRS-020E 'ORS module incorrect data'

Ive searched and found that ORS in vida can mean Occupant remote Sensor but i have found absolutely nothing else and so i arrive here !

The obvious answer is that your original seats were electrically fired so the passenger seat probably had a sensor in it to tell the system if someone was sat in it - then in an accident it would only operate the seat airbags if someone was sat in it.

The easiest solution would be to find alternative front seats which match your system.

I personally think your insurance company would take a dim view if you had an accident and this was discovered. The electric system is considerably safer if you take into account that the mechanical ones have to be physically hit by something to set them off whereas the electric ones have sensors in the car to detect an impact and therefore are more likely to fire in a big accident.

E.G. if you roll it the chances of the mechanical trigger being set off are fairly small but you could do with the seat bags deploying which the electrical system should do.

Yeah most likely you're correct ! however im just looking to get it through the MOT now and am looking for a definition of the code in the title srs-020E, only the first code on my list srs-0087 is regarding the seats replacement but the one im trying to decipher doesnt have anything to do with the seats as it was there before the swap.

Please dont reply regarding the seat swap. Im just looking for a solution to the srs-020E code

Hi mate. What car, engine and year do you have? I just looked for that code on Vida but can't find it without knowing your exact car.

Sorry, i'll be a bit off topic even if i have the exact same problem with the SRS light swapping my seats and different airbags.

I wonder if my car is connectable to VIDA since i plan to buy the soft + DICE connector.
My car is a 29th of May 2000 registered V70 2.5 TDI Manual.

If my message bother, i will delete it!
