Default 2001 V40 Airbag light

Hello,

this is my first post, my Name is lokako, I'm 22 Years old, live in Germany and work in an IT company.

I'm driving a V40 1.9D built in 2001 with over 250.000 miles (400.000km).

Unfortunately my car showed a airbag light when I started it last thursday.

Right now it's pretty cold here in Germany (-15 degrees Celsius), so the car did not start at first try, after second try it started but showed the airbag light.

I tried to reset/delete the fault code with an OBD-Scanner (ICarSoft CR Pro), but it shows an internal error.

Does someone have an idea how to fix this?

Best regards, lokako

What fault code does it show ?
You can't normally reset or erase the code until the problem is fixed !

It doesn't show a specific code, just the message that there's an error with the SRS control unit.

Hmm, was it the very low battery voltage due to the cold (diesel start up) that caused the SRS module fault?
Would need a good decoder to read a fault more accurately.
VOLVO VIDA, Foxwell NT640 and a few others.

Hi,

as I mentioned, my iCarSoft scanner which usually accesses all control units without any problem (ABS also works) only shows "internal error".

Maybe the problem got caused because of the low battery, but it's just a bit over one year old and I had a few battery problems in the past and never had issues with the SRS.

Best regards, lokako

I actually can read the SRS sensor data, just reading or clearing fault codes fails.

Until you can get a definitive code lokako, as gatos says, a replacement SRS module looks the route to take.
Surely a workshop will read it for you. Anyone with a BOSCH system reader can tell you but that may cost you 50€. You might buy one for that! Take a chance.

Hi,

thanks for your help!

I am already in contact with someone who sells those modules and also installs them.

Best regards,

lokako
