Had a quick look again and it says that they both work on gasoline and diesel cars. To make sure, ask them if it will definitely work with the 2001-2004 Volvo S40/V40 1.9D. If it doesn't, then you will be able to claim your money back.

If you look at V40Alex's first post links, it specifically says that they will work on the 1.9D S40 and V40.

Even the inferior DICE will read the more modern diesel Volvos, but not the 2001-2004 1.9D S40 V40.

After a very broken English message conversation with "Shirly Chou", I have ordered this unit - http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Best-...370520204.html

I've paid just under £60 including 3-5 day DHL delivery. They have also suggested the package will be marked as a value of £15 to avoid taxes.

I've just got VIDA working on my Windows 10 Laptop, and I'm pretty hopefully that this DICE unit will do the job I need it to.

Please keep us updated of how you are getting on, as I could do with a spare DICE in case mine stops working. And if you need any help with the DICE, feel free to ask. It takes a bit of time to get used to it.

I will do.

I am hoping to do a bit of research on using the software before the hardware arrives. I do have a cheapo OBD2 lead , can I connect to the car and practise with that?

No, I am afraid not. Only the DICE interface will work with VIDA. You can still explore VIDA on its own though and find it's various features.

Another thing to keep in mind when you get your DICE, is that it won't be able to read and recognise your car on it's own. You will have to enter your VIN number manually. It will read and recognise any of the newer Volvos without a problem.

Hello. After solved (it seems...) the multiple and simultaneous issues to lights and wipers replacing the CEM, I have now to program it for fog lights, and check for AIRBAG, since the dashboard error light is on for several months and the Volvo reseller told me, obviously, that I have to replace the airbag module, for some hundreds Euros. I've seen about a lot of VIDA-DICE devices in this thread and other places (below the links). They assured to me that their products are suitable for my 2001 V40 1.9D but I'm not sure of this, because the model is 2001 but I bought it in november 2000. I heard that model 2002 is different, so I've a doubt... Someone can help me?

On the subject of DiCE, has anybody ever had difficulty with DiCE interfacing with their car? My unit has recently decided not to interface with my Volvo, and it's a right pain.

Can't comment on any of these DICE, as I have not used any of them. I know for sure that the ones V40Alex has posted in the first post definitely work with the Phase 2 1.9D, including your car too.

With regards to your SRS problem, which exactly module is faulty? THe actual SRS control Module, or one of the airbags? Whichever it is though, no need to buy a new one, as a good second hand one will do the same job and save you a fortune

Yes, I had this problem with my first DICE after about 11 months. It would struggle to communicate with the car and I had to try reconnecting 4-5 times until I succeeded. Then one day, it decided to stop connecting at all and it ended up in the bin.

I'll open it and inspect the pcba to see if there are any bad solder joints etc. There's a company down the road from my that rebuilds and reconditions circuit boards. Could be worth a punt before buying a new DiCE unit.
