240GLT manual saloon, 114k miles, MoT, £500
1987 240GLT manual
114,175 miles MoT until Feb 16th 2011 Price: £500 In short: mechanically harmonious, rust-free and slightly sheddy in appearance. I need an incentive - plus funds - to get my 1800ES back on the road, so it's time to move my trusty everyday 240 to pastures greener. It's extremely nice to hoon around in, and has no mechancial maladies. Saggy rear springs are the only thing that detract from the driving experience. I seem to remember talk of a cam-belt change at 100k, but I haven't checked. The engine starts and pulls very well. The gear-change isn't sloppy, there's no slop in the drivetrain and the clutch has plenty of sticking power. It's unrusty and unwelded. There's a bit of surface grot on the driver's-side rear wheel-arch. The only bit of nasty rot is on the passenger's side spare wheel well, which looks as though it's due to damage - the one of the driver's side is as new. It had a new exhaust and pair of rear tyres in February. The front tyres are 60% worn. It's currently on 264 wheels (and I have the hubcaps somewhere), but I'm more than happy to replace these with the original GLT alloys, which are fitted with lightly worn but fairly chapped tyres. The cloth interior - rare for a GLT - is in reasonable shape. It's very, very blue indeed. The fuse-box cover is held on with gaffer tape (I may have a replacement). The odometer reset button has snapped off. There are various bits of missing or damaged exterior trim. I'm pretty sure that one of my spares cars can donate everything necessary, and the new owner is more than welcome to tuck in with a screwdriver. There's a small dent on the passenger's-side rear wheel-arch. Both wing mirrors have cracked glass (no replacements for these I'm afraid). The radio's excellent, but I - or rather a hedge - snapped the aerial off last week. I'll replace it before handing the keys over. The sunroof won't open, and I haven't tried to force the issue. The rear passenger's-side door is inoperative in every way. The headlight reflectors are quite corroded. Basically, it's a great everyday 240. Treat it to some Waxoyl, and it'll continue to soldier on indefinitely. It's currently taxed, and the new owner is welcome to buy it from me. sam@slightlycliveracing.com More pics at: www.samgloverlimited.com/pics/240forsale |

I've come back from a long galavant to discover that this car is still in my custody - the eBay buyer was evidently a dud.
£350 anyone? Sam |
