Default S80 Dipped Headlights

S80 2002: Can anyone please advise how to increase the dip headlamp height level beyond the maximum dashboard rotary setting? What mechanical adjustments are there on the head lights and how straightforward is it?

The are two adjusters which you access from above the headlights using a long handled nut spinner. If you do this with the engine running - be careful!

Why do you want this adjustment, are the headlights out of alignment? It could be a broken adjuster mechanism or the gear has slipped if they don't go up properly. Is the range of adjustment with the dash control what it should be or does it stop moving before the end of travel on the dial?

Thanks for your quick response. The range of travel is fully operational and beams not out of alignment but I would like a slightly higher dipped beam within legal limits. I can always back it off on the dash it the adjustment goes too high.

Default dipped beam

hi colin
i have the same problem with my 2007 xc70 dippers,i ended up getting a set of high power d/beam bulbs from fleabay, cost around £8 pair, they have definitly made a difference.(it was a sod of a job though)
i saw a thread on here about the 100w bulb replacements(not road legal yet)where it was said the germans are about to change their law so they would be legal?
i did not know you could actually adjust the mechanism yourself though?.
