I'm pretty sure the D5's dont have these issues. Only Petrol versions.

On the Subject of these devices, what are the symtoms? It maybe i have the paranoia, even tho i have no lights on the dash, and a smooth car to drive most of the time, i suspect i may have a little issue starting with the odd jumpyness mostly when cold. Either it's me still getting used to the car, a soft engine mount (which i have) or a breakdown in the ETM.

Many thanks.

When the ETM goes you could experiance failure in a couple of ways:

Engine falters and stalls at junctions.

Engine revs erratic and especially with an automatic version very difficult to drive under 30MPH when around town, two feet = two pedals to have any chance of control.

With either of the above it will also put the ECU in to limp home mode where the car offers little power and is difficult to get above 45MPH.

When it goes it "should" throw the ETS warning light and the check engine light, at first you can drive for a few days with no sign of the fault reoccuring but it will come back and gets progressively worse, in the end I took my V70 off the road until I fixed it as I was worried about it not being safe to drive, since fixing it (bbaremanufacturing about 2,5 years ago) its been fine - Mike

Thanks for that, i do have small incidents of revs dropping by prob 200/300 RPM when the clutch is first dipped to "coast" they recover instantly and idles smooth. Every car i've ever had has done this to some degree so haven't worried. I think if anything i may have some early stages. As long as i got a couple of years before it goes bad i dont mind.

Thanks again

Danny
