Default Black exhaust smoke from V50 2l diesel

I have a V50 on an 04 plate with 155000 miles on the clock. I have had the V50 for 10 years and have recently noticed black smoke coming from the exhaust especially under load (accelerating in high gear at relatively low speed and when towing a caravan). Because of the age of the car I was reluctant to use new parts (High cost) and so have replaced the Turbo, EGR valve and the injectors with warranted spare parts from recognised Volvo breakers. No improvement. I have just returned from visiting my daughter and travelled about 60 miles on open road and some urban roads. The computer tells me that I have averaged 46 mph and my fuel consumption is 58.2 mpg. which implies the engine is working well. Any ideas what I can look at next?

Check the entire intake system is free from leaks

Use a smoke tester

If the intake system has any air leaks, the air-fuel ration will be wrong resulting in over fuelling and black smoke

Could well be an intercooler leak/split, had a friend with the same issue
