Default Shame?

It would be a shame for this to go to scrap - but if nobody else is interested she probably has a number of things that I might need or could usefully put into stock.

Has she by ANY chance got the limited slip diff? That's what I REALLY want - and assuming she has the 3.73 diff (she should have) it might make sense for me to have the whole back axle.

The Air Flow Meter is another very useful item. As is the motronic ECU. And she should have (it looks like a volvo towbar) the auxiliary atf cooler as well.

When you did the rear suspension, did you re-install nivomats (and was it with new ones) or did you put in conventional shocks and stiffer springs?

Has she fully working remote central locking?

And how bad is the interior?

Have you done the head gasket? They normally go at around 100k to 130k miles. If not are you sure it is OK? What about the headlining? At this age they are normally totally knackered.

I would cost getting her nice again as about: -

Turbo - £300
Headlining - £300
Aircon - guess £300 (condenser, collector, gas and R134 conversion)
Leatherwork - £100
Wingmirror (second hand) - £20
Non-Volvo head unit - £100
Sunroof motor (secondhand) - £20
Rubbing strake (driver's door) - £30

Then maybe tyres and a refurb on the wheels.

This deserves saving, getting pretty rare now. Any interior pics and what we talking price wise?

Hi and sorry for the late reply, no, we turned down a £1200 offer already but thank you (he wanted to tear the car apart) which we don't want to happen.
For parts it would be worth WAY more than 400 on spares alone.
The headliner is terrible, the leather is worn, it has been our "Dogs Car" for 15 years. We have three German Shepherds and they love the size of the boot. The carpets are good except in the driver area and the driver's power seat controls are about 60% working order but functional.

Ultimately we would take reasonable offers for the certain person that wants to restore THIS beauty and not take parts to restore a different car.

If you want it for scrap, please understand we would want more as you will be destroying a very good reliable car in need of a facelift

Cheers all,

Kirt & Lisa

I'd say that, for restoration, over £1200 would be way too much for it. If you think selling a classic car for restoration with a stuffed turbo, headlining, seats and a saggy bum for that money, I am afraid you'll be holding onto it for a very long time.

My 760, was bought with that above, less the stuffed turbo, but stuffed injectors and head on a diesel model, for £500. With test for a months and a boat load of spares, full stainless exhaust, new tyres, not to mention a good dose of penicillin.

With all due respect the sentiments you may have for the car have no value for a potential buyer, and it is far from being a beauty - be realistic.

If you turned down £1200 for this car - and I find that hard to believe someone would offer that kind of money, doubtful it would be worth that in parts - take it. If the car was in average/good condition I doubt it would make £750 at auction, as for the dogs; well I can imagine...ghastly dog kennel car.

I've known Volvo 700s from new, and have had one in the family for 30 years.

Put it in an auction where people can view it first - if you dare, there are auctions at Shoreham.

These two statements don't seem to go together ;

Maybe you could get back in touch with the generous £1200 guy?

Acid bath!

I should add I'm all for saving cars (especially 700s. There are too few people interested in 700s on here - perhaps I should go elsewhere?), but just wish seller's would be realistic, What would help with this car are some quality images of the exterior and interior - in my view they're absent for a reason.

Jon.

I paid £300 for a very good condition saloon 760 tic (a lot rarer than an estate) so if you were offered £1200 for what you have basically described as a rough as a bag of nails car you are a lucky man.
