Wax Plan.
With a V70 new to me arriving I tried a 2014 which was not for me, so bought an older version as a temporary measure.
Once pre-washed with Iron-out plus Tardis pH shampoo the intention is to do a 2 stage polish. It will be wheels off cleaned then coated with ceramic Gtechniq C5 wheel armour. Will try to get the leather improved plus clean the engine.

xc70
bought my xc70 d5 2011[186k] a month or so ago and have been catching up on service items-so tbh not so much today-but over the last 4-5 weeks as well as using it as daily doggie transport
new cambelt, tensioner.roller[gen volvo] belt had been on scince 60k or so...belt/tensionr/roller looked/felt like they would have done the same again also[perhaps more importantly on one of these] the aux belt and tensioner-again volvo parts]tensioner was ok,belt was badly split-left the a/c belt as it was an obvious recent replacement total for all the belts-volvo parts about £170 front and rear pads were changed with cheap pattern parts, caliper slides and bodies cleaned while there was £13 for rear pads and £8.50 for fronts to fit the huge discs on this ex police car a nice fresh sump full of oil and a filter was thrown in ,along with a new undertray and bolts[quality pattern item about £55] a fair bit of labour over a short ownership term, but its done now previous private owner[first one after the police ] had just had 2 rear springs and shocks fitted along ith set of quality all weather tyres will be intresting to see how the old battleship gets on,i tend not to keep my cars very long but this is real comfy, with plenty room for my dogs too |

So, I've had the V70 a few weeks now and this is what I've done so far...
Chased some rattles. Found some still hunting others. The centre console is the worst one. Fixed the battery cover as tabs were snapped. A good clean, claybar and wax. Had the windscreen replaced as it was all scratched from wipers and sand! Took off the rear wiper and refitted which somehow solved the drooping. Changed number plate bulbs to LED. Fitted the roof rack and bike racks. Took it to the garage a few times to sort the limp mode when cold, still not sorted. |

Carbon Cleaning
Hi all
Volvo V70 2008 2.4D 113000 miles I had cleaned the EGR valve twice and noticed the carbon deposits inside engine where i couldn't reach. So called Carbon Cleaning for the Stage 3 cleaning procedure. And WOW the engine sounds emaculate and now is a pleasure to drive. Its like driving another car.I totally recommend these guys to all. https://www.facebook.com/infocarboncleaning.midlands/ |

Got the Polestar optimisation treatment. I'd say the D4 is more refined and certainly has that extra bit of pull over a higher range. I got the blue badge from elsewhere. Don't like the white one. Don't think it'd look right on the older versions of a Volvo compared to the new ones which all seem to have the slanty badges!

V70 2.4d.
Hi all. New to me Volvo V70. Had today timing belt, tensioner, roller, water pump.Cost me £300 for parts + labour. Parts brand some from Euro C. P.
Mechanic said auxiliary belt looks OK. Do you recommend to be changed. Thank you very much. |

Yes, but more importantly the aux belt tensioner, as that fails first, and takes the aux belt out and possibly the cambelt if unlucky. Search on this forum for more info. Depending on milege, you could do the alternator overrun pully too as they can fail with similar results.

Filter changes on 2008 build S80 3.2AWD
Doing some maintenance on my wife's car. Supposedly when we bought it a year ago it had just been serviced but I think that all that was done was an oil change
Changed 3 filters today, engine air filter, cabin pollen filter and oil filter Air filter was easy to change, the old one was very dirty and had a 2012 date printed on it The cabin pollen filter was filthy and also had a 2012 date code. Was pleased as to how much easier the S80 filter was to change compared to the XC60. On the XC60 you have to remove the glovebox which is 10 fasteners and 2 electrical connectors whereas with the S80 it was just 2 fasteners and 1 electrical connector For the oil change I used Castrol Magnatec full synthetic 5W30. I bought the 36mm socket to undo the oil filter housing from a mate at work who had sold his BMW and moved to a Japanese dealer serviced car and no longer needed it. Also got a new washer for the sump drain plug. Had to unclip the power steering reservoir and move it out of the way. Old oil was very black and it might just be my imagination, but the engine does seem to be running smoother now! My car has the plastic engine under tray missing - if I could find one at a wreckers I'd buy it but just not that many S80s around in NZ Next weekend is the turn for the XC60 to get an oil + filter and air filter change. (It only got a cabin filter change today)
