Year 5 service - schedule?
Hi All
Our 2014/64 plate XC70 AWD D5 is due its year 5 service - the last one we got as part of the 5 year sevice plan for £500 - can anyone tell me what this serivce will entail ie is it just an oil drop & filter change? Milegae is currently 59500. What other seriviceable - or other jobs - should I consider asking the dealer to carry out in addition? There are no nasty noises or anything that flags up to me apart from maybe the Cam belts etc.... a search on here suggests that its not due till 108000miles though? Thanks |

^ I dont really know - if it was done by the dealer as part of the service plan then yes... but I dont get an itemised bill or reciept as its on the plan..?
edit - found the invoice - it just says 'volvo 54000 service' with no additonal 'parts used' list below that (apart from the brake fluid and a 4wd allignment i asked them to do and the cost shown) Last edited by garethXC; Nov 10th, 2019 at 10:38. |

just the Aux belt at 54000 MILES , it is the miles which are the criteria not time ..... Then changed again with the cambelt and all the tensioners at 108000 miles / 10 years ...

Re the aux. belt. My understanding is that the service schedule only requires the belt to be changed, BUT, there are comments elsewhere on this forum advising that it is the tensioner which sometimes fails prematurely, not the belt so the advice is to change the tensioner as a matter of routine at the same time. If the tensioner fails and takes out the belt it can then takeout the cambelt. New engine required at tremendous cost. We found out after the service plan was signed by my daughter that it did not include the 10 years, 108,000 mile cambelt, aux.belt and tensioner renewal and as her car was rapidly approaching that mileage we paid for that as a “one off” job outwith the plan.

The 5th year service is a small service (just oil and filter) but you need to consider the aux belt and tensioner from what I understand.
