Default Cherished car owners please.

Long shot or no chance! How do you guys look after a car that is driven once or twice a week, then garaged? Sounds simple? If wet, I dry it if possible or let the breeze do that, then garage it. But what about the brakes etc underneath, being unprotected can rust if the car is not used much. Have any of you overcome this for your show cars etc? Love to know what you do to keep these gorgeous cars from slowly vanishing.

The C70 hasn't been out on wet roads for nearly two years and when it did it was in the summer.

I pick and choose the days it comes out particularly during the winter and try to give it a run once a month. Always about 30 miles or so to warm everything up and make sure the exhaust is dry. I operate all the switches and accessories just to keep them working. Never apply the handbrake when in the garage and connected to a Ctek battery monitor. Always under a car cover when in the garage and during the winter remove the cover on dry days and leave the garage doors open to allow the air to blow through. The car is always on the button and the regime seems to work for me.

I do similar with my 960 3Ltr, although I do occasionally have to use it in the wet. The most important thing is to avoid short runs - make sure the car is well warmed up (at least 10-12 miles at a good speed) before putting it in the garage. Depending on the terrain, the brakes will be warmed up and the residual heat from the engine and exhaust will go some way to drying off the underside once it's under cover. The other important thing is to make sure that the garage is well ventilated. My car gets used once a fortnight to do a 50 mile round trip and is hooked up to the Ctek for the rest of the time and it seems quite ok with that.

Stan.

Using it once or twice every few months or each year would require a care regime but not if it's getting a run out every week.
Yours sounds like how I use my car nowadays and it works fine with no special routine.
