Default 1996 960 - Instrument/Dashboard Light Brightness

Over the past ten years or so the instrument/dash lights on my 1996 3Ltr 960 have slowly become less bright and they are now really dim, even on the highest setting. The extent of the dimming is perfectly equal across all the instrument and switch lights, including those in the centre console (eg gear position lights, seat heater switches, etc). It's as if the voltage of the feed to the dashboard has dropped, but all other electrical equipment and lighting is absolutely fine. The alternator/battery are healthy.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there an easy fix?

Stan.
