Default can you retrofit heated seats?

Hi all,

We got our 2011 XC60 R-Design last week and are very happy with it. However, we wrongly assumed that it had heated seats and was wondering if anyone has retrofitted heating elements to an XC60 before?

There are companies out there that do it but seem to charge around £500 plus VAT and to be honest, i don't want them that badly to pay that but if i could do it myself that could be an option.

Ideally i would buy a kit and get the volvo switches so that it is appears to be factory fit.

any suggestions welcome

i fitted heated seat pads to my LandRover as SWMBO doesnt like a cold bum, really easy but they don't integrate with the car systems - not a problem on a LandRover, but might be an issue for you in the XC60

THanks for you reply,

When you say they don't integrate with the cars system do you mean that you have to use the control that comes with the kit and just mount it somewhere yourself?

How did you actually fit the pads into the seat?

You are correct - I spliced the wiring into the car and put the switches below the 'dash'

I stuck the pads to the seats and put a seat cover over them, wife was happy as the new seat covers are actually better than the LandRover seats! Officially you are meant to take the cover off teh seat, stick the heating elements to the supporting foam and then refit the seat cover - too much hassle on a landrover, but probably worth the effort on XC60!

This is what I fitted

You can also buy Heated seat covers, , killing both birds at the same time which would be ideal for an old car, there are others that might work for you.
